Walker, Joseph Reddeford (1798–1876), a United States trapper, explorer, and guide. During the 1830's and 1840's, he led expeditions that explored North America westward to California. One of his parties was probably the first group of white men to see the Yosemite Valley, California. Walker is believed to have been born in Virginia.
