Protagoras of Abdera
Protagoras of Abdera (in Thrace), a Greek philosopher of the fifth century B.C. He was an early Sophist, or itinerant professor who taught young men how to be successful in civic life. His dictum “Man is the measure of all things” reflected his belief that there is no absolute truth but only the truth as each individual perceives it.
