Mongols, a people of the Mongoloid race who speak Mongol, one of the Altaic languages of the Ural-Altaic language family. They form most of the population of Mongolia and the Inner Mongolia section of China. They are related to other Altaic-speaking peoples, including the Turks and the Manchus, and are known in history as founders of the Mongol Empire.
