Boris III (1894–1943), a king of Bulgaria. He was born at Sofia. When his father, King Ferdinand, abdicated in 1918, he succeeded as Boris III. In 1930 he married Princess Giovanna, the daughter of Victor Emmanuel III of Italy. It is believed that Boris was poisoned by the Germans. He was succeeded by his son Simeon II, who was deposed in 1946.
