George (1653–1708), prince of Denmark and husband of Queen Anne of Great Britain. He was the second son of Frederick III of Denmark. George was married to Anne in 1683. He became a British subject in 1689 and was made earl of Kendal and duke of Cumberland. After Anne became queen in 1702, he was made generalissimo and lord high admiral of England, but had little influence on policy.
