Hart, Albert Bushnell (1854-1943), a United States historian. Hart was author, joint author, or editor of about 100 volumes. He stressed the importance of studying history from original sources. Hart was born in Clarksville, Pennsylvania. He received a B.A. from Harvard University in 1880 and a Ph.D. at the University of Freiburg in Germany. He taught American history and government at Harvard, 1883-1926.
Hart edited a 28-volume series, The American Nation (1903-18); American History Told by Contemporaries (5 volumes, 1898-1928); Source Readers in American History (5 volumes, 1901-27).
