Naskapi (or Nascapee) Indians, both, a tribe of Indians of the Algonquian linguistic family, related to the Crees, and closely associated with the Montagnais. They lived on the Labrador peninsula. They were allied with the French in wars against the Iroquois. There are about 15,000 Naskapi and Montagnais living in Quebec and in Newfoundland and Labrador.
