Heilprin, Angelo (1853–1907), a United States geologist and explorer. Heilprin made field trips to the Florida Everglades, Mexico, North Africa, Alaska, and the Bermuda Islands. He was with Robert Peary on an Arctic expedition, 1891–92. In 1902 he examined at close range the erupting volcano of Mount Pelée on the island of Martinique.

Heilprin was born in Hungary, but was taken to the United States in early childhood. He attended European universities, and was professor of invertebrate paleontology at the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia, 1884–1900.
