Domitian (51–96 A.D.), a Roman emperor. His full name was Titus Flavius Domitianus. He was the younger son of Emperor Vespasian and came to the throne after the death of his brother Titus in 81. Under Domitian, the empire's finances were soundly administered, many buildings and public works were constructed, and the frontiers were strengthened against barbarian incursions. His rule became increasingly cruel and tyrannical, and he was assassinated by his wife and other members of his household.
