Lisa, Manuel (1772–1820), an American explorer and fur trader. Lisa was born in New Orleans. He moved to St. Louis, where he helped organize the St. Louis Missouri Fur Company (1809). Lisa made trips to the upper Missouri River region, establishing posts there. His explorations helped secure for the United States areas also claimed by Great Britain.
