Little Turtle (1752?–1812), a chief of the Miami Indians. He was born in northeastern Indiana. Little Turtle led the Indian forces that defeated United States troops in 1790 and 1791, but in 1794 he was defeated by General Anthony Wayne at the Battle of Fallen Timbers. The next year Little Turtle signed the Treaty of Greenville, recognizing United States control over most of Ohio and southern Indiana. In 1797 he traveled east and visited President Washington.
