Anastasia, (1901–1918?), the youngest daughter of Nicholas II, the last czar of Russia. Nicholas and his immediate family were shot by the Bolsheviks in Yekaterinburg in July, 1918. Most historians believe that Nicholas and his entire family were killed, but some believe that Anastasia was only wounded and was saved. Several women later claimed to be Anastasia, but none produced enough evidence to receive the Romanov fortune. In 1991 the bones of the czar and his family were discovered near Yekaterinburg. Missing, however, were the bones of two of the czar's children. Most historians believe that Anastasia's bones were among the missing.
